The inception of Matchstick Websites really began nearly a decade ago when Kelly Lightfoot started Ampersand, a branding and graphic design firm. Then in 2015, the constant demand from clients needing new websites was growing and Andrew saw an opportunity. With his background in software consulting and computer technology, Andrew launched Matchstick, first working with Ampersand’s clients then very quickly taking on new projects across the country. In 2018, with Matchstick growing rapidly, Kelly stepped away from Ampersand to dedicate her time working alongside Andrew.
As early as age twelve, Andrew Lightfoot was tinkering with technology and building his own computers. What started as a hobby, led to an interest in the inner workings of hardware and software, alike. In high school, Andrew taught himself HTML code and began building websites for friends and family. As a young adult, Andrew spent a season as a software consultant and found tremendous joy in constructing customized software platforms while working closely with each corporate client to determine their unique objectives.
With a passion to see local businesses and non-profits establish a credible web presence, Andrew launched Matchstick three years ago and works closely with each client to achieve that exact objective. Andrew is proud members of both the Independence Chamber of Commerce and Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and recipient of the Emerging Business of the Year Award.
Since designing her first t-shirt in fourth grade, Kelly has always had a taste for graphic design. Even before completing her degree in Commercial Art at the University of Central Missouri, Kelly was working in the industry. With more than eight years as the owner of Ampersand, a local branding and design company, Kelly now channels her fierce love of typography and her experience into websites. Working alongside Matchstick clients, brand consistency and fresh design become apart of every new website launched.
